kevin and jon are coming up tomorrow to play an acoustic show for the Akoha.org to help pre-launch Austin Hill’s new startup. A “Private Screening of Akoha for our play testers”. Its a very cool new social app that will be public soon. Ive seen it and its a pretty novel idea. this really feels like the start of the fall shows to me. from here on out its all music all the time. its good to get back on stage…
an with that, its done. ive come to the end of the process, seems i always work till the last minute!
this album was no exception. its funny how my brain works, now that i know its really done, im finally relaxed. and of course thinking about all the other music i want to make:)
at soundcheck last week we played Wake Up and Say Goodbye for the first time in awhile. ive been playing it at home on acoustic and had changed the key, moving it up 2 steps and so we tried it 2 steps up. that simple change and the fact that we were playing it faster was enough to make me want to record it again. so this morning im going in with fred to finish it off and do the vocal again. we’ll see how it sounds. when all is said and done (that has to be soon, the album is still coming out on sept. 23rd) you can tell me which version you like better!
PRE-ORDER a signed copy (quantities limited, my poor wrist:) from MapleMusic now!
For the Fall Tour we will be playing lots from the new album, but what else would you really like to hear?
Comment with your thoughts here (at davidusher.com rather than facebook or myspace) so i can see all your ideas and we can all follow the thread!
it really does feel quiet right now. ive been hanging out in montreal and writing. the summer has been wet but its great to be back here. there is something about montreal in the summer. there is a special energy here that always makes me want to create and go back into the studio. the show at the apple store reminded me why i do this. i need to play again!
the next show is friday so i wont have to wait long…
we all hate it i think. the waiting. life online is so immediate it seems strange to be waiting for 53 days to let the record out:)
Ive used macs to make music forever. They have revolutionized the way we record and release, and freed musicians to think about songs rather than programing. I have loved watching the development of the hardware and the software through the different incarnations. The new album Wake Up and Say Goodbye coming on sept 23rd was recorded entirely on a Macbook pro and and mixed and mastered on a Mac tower using Logic 8.
if you are in montreal this coming week, we will be playing a show at their new flagship store downtown. its FREE so come early. we are on at 7pm on tuesday the 29th! (for those of you that dont know, im a big apple freak, and have been using macs for music and writing since…well the beginning:)
